How to Get 8,000+ Clicks a Month from Pinterest

I know Pinterest feels hard. Pinterest is not easy to start with. If you read numbers like this, you are thinking, "This is totally unreachable." But hear me out. It is not. You just need to do it the right way. Step by step.

Who Pinterest Is For

If we are doing Pinterest marketing, we need to understand who this platform is even for and what to expect from it.

First, Pinterest is a platform that can be used for visual products, but also products that can be presented in a visual way.

Visual does not always have to mean that you need to do a pro photoshoot of a model in order to post on Pinterest. That is not what I mean. It is about doing it in a creative way, in a way that will engage people and stop them from scrolling.

If you have ideas on your own and want to handcraft designs, go for it. I am more the AI person. AI works perfectly with Pinterest, saves you money, saves you time, and brings you traffic. But I am not talking about the regular AI slop that just posts something to post something. I am talking about creative ways of using AI.

Using Trends to Guide Your Content

Let me give you one example.

Let’s say you found an idea that you think might work. Note it down.
Now go to trends.pinterest.com. Search for a word that would describe your image. Got it? Good. Is it relevant? Are there posts that are ranking high for it? Is it a growing trend?

No? Good. We are on the right way.

See what just happened? You created a post that has no relevance for Pinterest because you thought it looked cool, but actually nobody is searching for it.

Now that we have learned this lesson, use Pinterest Trends to find trends in your niche that actually get clicks and that you can identify with. Found something? Good.

Get inspired by it. Use it as inspiration for your content. Generate content with AI around it, similar, do not copy it. If you are a designer, design something similar. If you are in ecommerce and want to photoshoot yourself, do a similar photoshoot.

Why This Works

Why do we do that? By doing this, we follow the main principles that the Pinterest algorithm uses to surface trends: visual appeal and trending keywords.

You heard that right. Pinterest tends to trend things that look similar to trending images, even if the keywords are not exactly matching.

The keyword strategy is clear. I do not have to explain it. But if you consider these two things in combination, you are already one step ahead of 99 percent of others.

Creating Your First Content Piece

Good. You created your first content piece by now, I hope? Perfect.

Now we go to Pinterest. I assume you have an account already, otherwise you would not be here on my blog.

You are going to do your first Pinterest post now. Or if it is your thousandth, that will be the first that will actually be seen. That is also fine. :)

Anyways, we now upload our image. Oops. We did not follow the guidelines about pixels. Image could not be uploaded. Now let us talk briefly about that.

Most pinners post in the following format: 1000x1500 px. Do your first post in this format. We do not have to make rocket science out of it. There are other formats, but that is not relevant for now. Let us keep it simple. To be honest, that is the format I use most of the time. It is perfectly fine for Pinterest.

Writing Titles and Descriptions

Now that we made our image in the right format, let us go to the title.

What is on the image? What are we showing people? What do we want to sell? What do we want people to do? What do we now write in there?

As you already have seen, we have been in Pinterest Trends and got inspiration for content, as well as trending keywords. Let us use them. Combine them with what is actually on your image, with your product.

If you have no starting point at all, just copy the trend, upload your image to ChatGPT, and discuss what title would make the most sense for your image combined with the trending keyword. Do not make the title too long. It should be short, engaging, and make people curious, but also allow people to actually find your pin.

Now let us get to the description. You can get more creative here. Write a short text, add a CTA. You can also use ChatGPT for that, combined with the trending keywords you want to rank for.

Choosing Your Boards

Now the step with the board. People overcomplicate this part too much in my opinion.

Create one board for now, 2 to 3 max for the beginning. Then see if your content aligns with these boards. If you need more, create more, but do not have thousands of boards. The board name should ideally contain a relevant keyword.

The other fields are not really important. Fill them out if you feel better doing it. I usually leave them empty.

Think Long Term

Pinterest is a long-term strategy. Think SEO. Your content can rank for months, even years, if done the way I just explained.

Happy posting.
